Justices Said Juma Chitembwe and Marete Njagi are appearing before the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) again.

Chitembwe and Marete will be interviewed once again, but this time, for the position of a supreme court judge.

The two will appear before the panel in turns with Justice Chitembwe scheduled to take the hot seat first at 9 am followed by Justice Marete at 11 am.

The duo had previously appeared before the Prof Olive Mugenda led panel and had been interviewed for the position of Chief Justice.

However, their quest was unsuccessful after the commission named Lady Justice Martha Koome as their nominee for the CJ position awaiting vetting by parliament and the president’s approval.

The supreme court judge seat fell vacant after the retirement of Justice Jackton Ojwang in February 2020 after clocking 70 years.

The successful candidate in the ongoing interviews will also be vetted by parliament then appointed officially by President Uhuru Kenyatta to join the seven-member bench in the highest court in the country.
